Member Highlight — Kayla Hunsberger

I first met Kayla through social media and instantly fell in love with her and her family. She’s more commonly known for her handle, @momwagon_wrx, and her stunningly wrapped build — but I know her more for her spunky attitude. I met her in person for the first time at Slammedenuff in Daytona Beach, Florida.

About Kayla

I’m from North Florida, spent most of my life living just outside of Jacksonville, and recently bought a house with my husband in Jax. We have been married for 6 years and have two little girls (Presley is 4, Harlow is almost 3) and 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a couple of chickens.

What got you into cars?

I always had a little interest in cars, then I got my first car in high school (a 92 Integra) and my dad and I got it cleaned up and running. I didn’t know anything about modifying or racing until my best friend started dating a car guy when we were in college. Then I met my husband and he started helping me learn more and do some of my first mods to the DA.

Current cars and plans for the future

I currently own a 2007 WRX wagon (aka the mom wagon). Its stock block, with forged pistons, STi rods, head studs, full bolt ons, turbo back exhaust, big (Boost controlled performance) turbo, injectors, E85 tune, STi swapped transmission including brakes, hubs to 5×114, diffs, and axles, with a new twin disk clutch. She is making 425 all wheel HP on 25psi tuned by Mase Engineering in Jacksonville. Currently on neomax sliver coilovers, anti lift kit, adjustable camber arms, and rota grids (17×9.5 +38) wrapped in Kumho V70. Its also got a full wrap in 3M satin Key West, with carbon front grill and a lip. Still have a lot planned for this car, next year I will be working on doing race seats, harnesses, cage, etc. and eventually doing some major body work, paint and big wing!

I also have a completely stock 2015 STi Launch Edition (1 of 1k) and a 2007 GSXR 600 I’m learning to ride!

Interests in the automotive community

I am really trying to attend more events and shows, but the car was built for track/auto x. Having two toddlers has slowed me down for getting much seat time on the track but I fully intend to get some event in next year! I am also a hobbyist photographer.
